Buying guide

BUY A DIODE LASER

What really matters when buying a professional diode laser: wavelengths, sustained output, cooling, parameter control, training and service – explained concisely, without marketing promises.

01 — Wavelengths

Which wavelength for what?

755 nm

Alexandrite range

High melanin absorption – mainly used on fine and light hair.

808 nm

Standard diode laser

The classic wavelength for permanent hair removal in everyday studio work.

940 nm

Depth & vessels

Extends the spectrum in deeper skin layers and with stronger blood supply.

1064 nm

ND:YAG range

Lower melanin absorption – for darker skin types and deep follicles.

The ALIX systems of the Smart AI line work with 755, 808, 940 and 1064 nm. Technology details are available in the Technology Center and on the page about ALIX SMART AI.

02 — Checklist

Six criteria before buying

01

Wavelength concept

A diode laser with several wavelengths covers more hair and skin types than a single-wavelength device. Check which wavelengths can be selected individually and in combination.

02

Output & continuous operation

What counts is not peak output but constant output across a full treatment day – diode stacks, power supply and cooling circuit working together.

03

Cooling & comfort

Contact cooling at the handpiece determines tolerability and treatment speed. Ask about cooling capacity, target temperature and behaviour during long sessions.

04

Parameter control

The clearer the parameter logic, the more confidently the team works. ALIX SMART AI scans skin and hair and determines the treatment parameters automatically as a suggestion.

05

Training & documentation

Instruction, skin-type logic, safety distances and treatment documentation are part of the investment – not just of later support.

06

Service & spare parts

Before buying, clarify response times, remote support, availability of handpieces and spare parts, and your contact person in Germany.

03 — Technologies

Diode laser, alexandrite or IPL?

Diode laser

Focused wavelengths, high repetition rate, very well suited to permanent hair removal in series operation.

Diode laser systems

Alexandrite & ND:YAG

755 nm and 1064 nm with spot-size logic – for fine hair and darker skin types in one system.

Alexandrite laser

IPL / SHR

Broadband light with filters: flexible for hair removal, skin appearance and vessels, with lower selectivity than a laser.

IPL & SHR systems

Direct system comparison: compare up to three devices. Investition und Finanzierung: Cost of a laser device.

04 — Questions

Frequently asked questions about buying a diode laser

What does a professional diode laser cost?
The price depends on wavelengths, output, handpieces and scope of service. We state the price per device in the quotation – including training, service and financing options.
How many wavelengths do I need?
For a studio with a mixed clientele, several wavelengths make sense because hair thickness and skin type vary. With a clearly defined treatment offering, 808 nm can be sufficient.
What requirements apply in Germany?
Professional requirements apply to laser applications (including the German NiSV). We provide device-specific information and train your team via the ALIX Academy.
Can I test a device beforehand?
Yes. A live demo is possible in the showroom or by arrangement – including a trial treatment and a walk-through of the parameters.
